A serial killer known as the Owl has been kidnapping women on Pearblossom Highway for years. Along this desolate stretch of highway, mere miles from Los Angeles, female drivers have a strange tendency of disappearing. The problem is: nobody knew that the killings were connected until one of his victims was lucky enough to survive. Of course, when Charli Nguyen escaped the grasp of the prolific killer, she only made it a few miles down Pearblossom before an ill-timed car accident claimed her life.
Now, Veteran Detective William Marsh of the LAPD and Special Agent Madeline Crowe of the FBI are the one thing standing between this madman and his next victim. Using the only piece of meaningful evidence at their disposal -- a dismembered arm -- the impromptu partners set out to finish a decade-spanning investigation that threatens to claim more than just their sanity. Battling bureaucracy, courting corruption, and turning a blind eye to oversight -- the disparate duo is in a race against the clock for a clandestine killer whose timetables simply don’t adhere to the expectations of any profiler or pathologist.
Will the taciturn agent and the conventional cop be able to overcome their differences and bring down one of LA's most deadly serial killers? Will they discover the truth before it's too late? Or will they discover that some nests are better left undisturbed?
