Darren Martin is an artist and copywriter living in Orange County, California. When he’s not writing taglines for film and television, he’s probably making silly illustrations, surfing at El Porto, or spending time with his best friend and favorite Maltese-Poodle, Zeus the Dog.
Originally from Pasadena, MD, Darren graduated from the Savannah College of Art & Design in 2013, and has spent the last 11 years living in Los Angeles, working as both a copywriter and consultant for some of the biggest agencies and most well-known brands in the world. His work includes contracts with brands such as: BRITISH PETROLEUM (BP), HONDA MOTOR COMPANY, QUALCOMM, HTC, SONY, S.C. JOHNSON, FOX, UNIVERSAL PICTURES, DISNEY, AMAZON, and NETFLIX.
A butterfly in the dark is Darren's second book and first work of fiction. During the production of a not-so-short animated film, Darren became stymied by legal pitfalls and, while the film was undergoing the lengthy clearance process, a disillusioned Martin began feverishly working on what would become the first chapters of the novel.
